De Press - since 1989 up to now...

Prehistory

1954

Andrzej Dziubek was born on the 14 of June in Jabłonka - Orawa and the 3 of December is the day of coming to this world of Ola Snortheim in Harpefoss in Norway.

1959

On 29 of December Jørn Christensen was born in Fredrickstadt in Norway.

1954 - 1970

In fact, Dziubek since his childhood shows signs of extraordinary skills of seeing and experiencing the world connected with artistic talent. He is interested in music – sings mountain folk songs and performs in folk band. At high-school, as a musically precocious teenager, is the leader of rock band Lotony.

1970

On one December Saturday Andrzej Dziubek in a dramatic way escapes across the border of Poland.

1970 - 1980

During the carpenter work at the refugee camp in Austria Andrzej Dziubek loses his three fingers of his left hand. The legend says that the accident happened as a result of the gunshot incident with Czech border soldiers. The dreams about playing the guitar seem to be burried. Rebirth comes with the new wind of punk rock.
With the help of Royal Norwegian Charity Andrzej goes to Norwegia and attends school, then studies at the Academy of Arts in Oslo.

History

1980

Andrzej Dziubek – using the nickname Andrej Nebb, Jørn Christensen and Ola Snortheim start De Press band in Oslo.

1981

New music was already underway. The first album emerges called Block To Block. The material is a combination of mountain folk inspiration with punk music and political engagement. De Press attracted favourable press and TV and the band performs on TV. At last, the band comes to Poland and performs at Gdansk Shipyard, Sopot, Warsaw. But next concerts were canceled after Dziubek was found guilty of illegally crossing across the border. The debut album, not available in Poland, gets a lot of attention and brings the popularity. In Norway it is called as the most important rock album of XX century.

Interhistory

1983 - 1989

After releasing On The Other Side the band suspends its activity. Andrzej Dziubek plays in the band Holy Toy, but De Press had its label as the one of the most important band of Norway.

History - continuation

since 1989 up to now...

Reactivation of De Press results in many albums such as: - 3 Potocki (reedition of Bolshov Trio), Groj skrzypko groj, Potargano chałpa, Dwie tęsknoty. The band performs many concerts and some musicians from Nowy Targ join the group.
